Health Care Nuttiness

August 15, 2009

I got into a fight with someone on Facebook about health care reform (actually, this has happened multiple times recently). I find that most people I find myself arguing with end up spewing crap about “big government,” which I just cannot take seriously. The guy I was arguing with this time was doing this, but he also had a few facts in his bag of tricks–as someone presently in the health care industry, he wasn’t completely ignorant.

His position was that the quality of our health care would go down with the proposed changes. By contrast, I took the position that even if the quality of health care for some in the US would decrease with the changes–something of which I am not entirely convinced, but I’ll admit it is entirely possible–I was nevertheless willing to support the changes in order to help the Americans who are completely uninsured.

His response? Apparently I am filled with “envy and hate.” I’d love to see anyone explain that one!

Well obviously if poor people have access to antibiotics when they get sick, that means more bacteria will be exposed to antibiotics and develop resistance. That means that when rich people need them, they wont work!!!

Clearly anyone who wants that must hate rich people probably out of envy for their beautiful beautiful money – the only thing of value in this world as everyone knows.

Any reasonable person would sacrifice their worthless selves for the fortune 500 company executives who after all produce all the real wealth singlehandedly.

Today I saw an advert on a bus, it had a picture of welsh coal miners and said “history cost them their livelyhood” (but you can see history for free – something like that). And there was a strong urge on my part to sneak in to the bus depot at night and cross out “history” and depending which point I wanted to make either write “Capitalism” or “Thatcher” (perhaps I could alternate…)

If you were really filled with envy and hate then you would be the one wanting to deny others medical care. But you’re not.

And why not, damn it!? What kind of third-rate class war are you running here? We can use their organs to feed our pets.

(Oh and I obeyed your summer reading meme here.)

You don’t want rich people to get boob jobs on demand because you think poor people should have access to basic medical care. You’re filled with envy and hate!

Same thing happened to me on my facebook page. After lambasting health care reform as socialism and humanism, my main antagonist said, “If we truly believe Jesus, and allow Him to work through us, people will be healed, fed, delivered, loved, and discipled!”

But he didn’t say who was going to feed and heal them.

I’m filled with astonishment, disgust, despair, and probably hatred at the lies and propaganda created by Fox News to poison the believing american public. Apparently the NHS has to recruit Muslim (ie terrorist) doctors to fill in the shortages. Doug Chaplin has a video link to the evil Fox:

Personally I love the NHS, I’d be dead without it and I love my Muslim doctor. Well she might be. Who knows and who frigging cares – she’s the best doctor I’ve ever had.
