Israel and Palestine

June 4, 2010

As a friend of mine said on facebook:

To discuss Israel and Palestine—as many are doing—with a “he said, she said” or a “six of one, half a dozen of the other” rhetoric is to ignore the imbalance of power, which indirectly ends up supporting the dominant power (i.e., Israel).

“He said, she said” is so heteronormative. We should add “he said, he said” or “she said, she said.”

But if you say, “he said, he said,” it’s not clear that there are two different people saying something. How about “This one said, that one said”?
